Al Awda Health and Community Association is a non-profit Palestinian grassroots civil society association, founded in 1985. The association bases its work on the fundamental goal of contributing to improving the health and living conditions of the community in the Gaza Strip by providing primary and secondary health care services. In addition, it provides services to protect women and children and to empower the youth.

The guiding slogan for Al-Awda Association, “Everyone in need has the right to health and social services” encapsulates the organization’s commitment to providing diverse health and community care to those in need.  Al-Awda’s vision underscores a comprehensive health concept, emphasizing that health services should not be isolated from broader community and development initiatives.

The association has two hospitals, 6 primary health care centres, a daily health care centre, and 8 centres for the protection and empowerment of women, children and youth, spread throughout most of the governorates within Gaza Strip. Al Awda is considered the largest community health organization in the Gaza Strip, with annually more than 400,000 people benefiting from its services.

Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia is the only hospital that continues to operate in the northern Gaza Strip, and Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat is the only private hospital operating alongside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central region. Despite the suffering endured by the health personnel and the destruction of hospital buildings, centres and ambulances, the association provided service for 90,418 patients in the central Gaza Strip, 36,000 patients in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, and 7,258 patients in Rafah, while the women and child protection teams were able to provide service to 17,421 women and 17,154 children.
